AI Is Making Students Fail? Sounds Crazy… But Let Me Explain!
Hold up.
AI is making students fail?
That sounds crazy, right?
Alright—before you call me wild, let me explain.
We live in a world where students are using AI to do everything—write their essays, solve their math problems, answer test questions—and at first glance, it seems like the perfect shortcut.
But here’s the real truth:
If you let AI do everything for you in school, you're actually hurting yourself more than you're helping yourself.
Welcome to The Kantis Simmons Show!
I'm Kantis Simmons, here to help you succeed in school and succeed in life. And today, I’m diving into a hot topic that I’ve been covering in my recent videos—AI in education.
If you haven’t caught those yet, I’ve got links to those videos down below. I break down:
-
How to use AI responsibly,
-
What AI tools you can use right now, and
-
How to make AI work for you, not against you.
And as a bonus, this is all part of my “Study Smarter, Not Harder” series.

🎯 So, What’s the Big Deal? Why Is AI Dangerous for Students?
AI is powerful. No doubt about it.
But if you misuse it—if you lean on it like a crutch—it can actually cripple your ability to learn and succeed.
Here are 4 dangerous ways AI can mess up your education if you’re not careful:
1. AI Kills Critical Thinking
Letting AI think for you means your brain doesn’t get a workout.
Thinking is a skill.
Problem-solving is a skill.
And guess what?
When I worked as a scientist at NASA and Ciba Vision, they didn’t pay me for my charming smile—they paid me to solve problems.
And the same goes for you.
Whether you’re planning a career in STEM, business, healthcare, or any field—problem-solvers get paid. But if AI is doing all your thinking, your brain muscles shrink. Don’t let that happen.
2. AI Encourages Plagiarism
Let’s keep it 💯—copying and pasting from ChatGPT or any other tool without understanding or rewording it is still plagiarism.
Educators are catching on. Schools are using AI detection tools now.
So if you turn in something written by AI without editing or understanding it?
Boom. ❌ You fail the assignment—or worse, the class.
I even heard about a whole college class that failed because everyone used AI for the same assignment. Don’t be that student.
3. AI Gives Wrong Information
Yeah, AI makes mistakes. All. The. Time.
So if you’re blindly trusting it to write your paper or explain a concept, you might be learning and spreading false info. Double-check everything with trusted sources. Don’t copy and paste—learn and verify.
4. AI Weakens Your Study Habits
Instant answers might feel good in the moment…
But over time, they weaken your ability to study, focus, and learn.
Good study habits—like patience, repetition, and active recall—are what actually prepare you for real-world challenges. AI shortcuts rob you of that process.
💡 How to Use AI the Right Way
I’m not saying ditch AI altogether. It’s amazing when used right. I personally use AI to transcribe my thoughts (because I talk faster than I type). I also use Grammarly to edit and fine-tune.
Here’s how you can make AI your assistant—not your crutch:
✅ 1. Use AI for Guidance, Not Answers
Ask AI to explain concepts, not to do your homework.
Think of it like a tutor on steroids—great for clarifying, summarizing, and guiding your thoughts.
✅ 2. Always Fact-Check AI
Don’t trust everything it says. Verify it with books, journals, or your class notes. Back in the day, we had encyclopedias and library stacks—today, you still need credible sources to back up your work.
✅ 3. Do Your Own Thinking
Let AI spark ideas, but make sure the final product is you. Your thoughts. Your work. Your voice.
Because if you go through high school, college, and grad school relying on AI… one day you’ll wake up in a job interview and not even recognize your own thoughts. Don’t let that be you.
📣 Final Thoughts
AI is awesome. But if you lean on it too much, it can actually:
-
Weaken your learning skills
-
Steal your study habits
-
Cripple your thinking
-
And cost you your future success
So now I want to hear from you:
